We mentor for all skill levels
CYO provides for the development of young people’s spiritual, emotional, intellectual, social and physical potential. Based on Catholic values, CYO offers guidance to assist young people as they assume responsibility for themselves and for their relationship with their faith, peers and community. CYO strives to meet the diverse needs of all youth regardless of religious affiliation.
Every CYO activity provides opportunities that encourage and assist youth in their growth and development towards Christian adulthood.
The specific purpose of the CYO athletic program is to develop in youth a sense of self-esteem, self-discipline, cooperation and fair play by providing a competitive team sport activity through which they will practice the teaching of their faith.
This is accomplished through the efforts of the adult volunteer coach. The CYO coach is to serve the team with a Youth Ministry philosophy; more than being a sports technician, he/she is an important role model for young people. In that capacity and above anything else, a coach in the CYO program strives to exemplify behavior of a committed Christian adult. He/she lives by the letter, but more importantly, by the spirit of these rules and philosophies.
Ultimate responsibility for the success of the CYO program lies with the volunteer adult participant. Adults involved in CYO must remember that the program exists for the Christian growth of young people. Conduct of adults must always model Christian values and virtues. When adults forget the primary focus of CYO, the program becomes destructive. When adults remain faithful to the Christian ideals of CYO, they exercise a unique and rewarding ministry to the young with whom they come in contact.

I put in no effort. I showed no real commitment, unlike everyone else. Then I realized how hard everyone else was working, not for the chip alone, but for each other… I started giving it my all every practice, and look where it got us. Our last game ever, Champioships.

The support and encouragement that the coaches brought. When my child struggled, they were right there to motivate her, even if that meant running alongside her

My coach and team taught me that being a good person with a good hear is better than being the best athlete. They showed me what mattered most was my mindset towards the sport, and my attitude to others. These people supported me throughout the whole season, and offered me their respect, encouragement and kindness.

The program has really helped develop not only basketball skills, but also character, teamwork, discipline, confidence and sportsmanship. I’ve seen how the players learned to support and encourage one another, work together as a team, and show respect both on and off the court. I truly appreciate the positive impact the program and coaches have had on the kid.
